Port Operative

We have opportunities in the South Shields area for operatives working in a port environment. The focus of the role is to ensure that all operations involving our customer's cargo are carried out safely and efficiently. This is an excellent opportunity if you are looking for a varied role working in different areas depending on the requirements of the business. This role is open to people with or without prior sector experience and offers specific ports training.

The Job Role

Loading and unloading products in a timely and safe way

A rostered of days, nights and weekends - Successful candidates must be able to complete all shifts with flexibility to vessel traffic requirements.

Working on the quayside providing labouring duties and slinger banksman

Maintaining complete safety of yourself & all other employees and visitors at all times

Experience:

Counterbalance FLT Experience would be advantageous but not essential

Previous experience of slinger banksman work would be desirable but not essential

Experience working within a busy warehouse or port environment

Hours of work

This role requires workers to do a mixture of days and night shifts plus some weekend working. 12 hour shifts usually 0600 to 1800 or 1800 to 0600.

You must be able to pass a medical and drug and alcohol test

Pay:

This role pays 14.08 per hour for day and night shifts.
