Our client, BAE - Maritime Services, is seeking a skilled Ship Technician to join their team on a contract basis at the UK Naval Defence Base in Portsmouth. This role involves working on the Type 45 and Carriers for the UK Navy within a leading Defence and Security company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintaining and ensuring the safety of the ships within the naval base
- Managing and applying safe systems of work (SSoW)
- Interpreting drawings related to ship maintenance and repair
- Testing and proving systems are dead before commencing work
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations
Job Requirements:
- Experience as a BAE-trades-ship warden
- Knowledge of safe systems of work (SSoW)
- Willingness to work shifts, including nights and weekends
- Ability to interpret technical drawings
- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic working environment
- Proficiency in IT and problem-solving abilities
- Strong work ethic and the ability to work well under pressure
- Comfort working within a naval defence environment
- Background in Oil and Gas or experience with the Merchant Navy as a junior engineer is desirable
