Telent's Network Services Vehicle Installation & Maintenance Engineering Field Team are looking for an addition of an Auto Electrical Field Supervisor due an increase in work amongst our Emergency Services customers. We are looking for a Field Supervisor from the Auto Electrical world to lead a talented team of Engineers within the Vehicle fit-outs team, across the London / South East of England and South Coast regions. This is a field based role that will see you travel to site, and visiting our London based depot from time to time.
Reporting to the Network Services Field Manager, this role will be key to join the field services and management teams together to form a cohesive and productive workflow. Supporting Public Emergency Services projects UK wide but focussed regionally, you will Supervise and lead a team of highly skilled Field Engineers on a day-to-day basis.
Auto Electrical Field Supervisor - What you'll do:
- Support the installation / maintenance of Auto-Electrical equipment and systems and telecommunication kit into Emergency Services Vehicle (ambulances)
- Provide financial / business / a commercial steer on field based operations where needed
- Support the delivery of day to day tasks in line with business expectations
- Manage availability of Resource / Field Engineers to carry out critical work on "installations, support and maintenance" projects
- Support performance against operational plans
- Help promote staff retention and well-being
Supervise, Lead & Assist:
- Lead and supervise a team of full time permanent and contractor members of staff engaged in all aspects of install / installation and test activity
- Manage and deliver programmes of work in regions on behalf of the Field Management team
- Encourage more efficient ways of working to meet targets and SLA's and reduce downtime / overtime
- Assist in the Induction of new starters
- Assist with scheduling of resources
- Assist in reviewing and amending of documentation in line with agreed processes and procedures
- Provide support to implement all Company Policy, Procedures and Instructions relating to Health & Safety of Telent employee's, contractors, sub-contractors and any other persons who may be affected by Telent activities
- Provide administration support for the Field Manager in regard to field operations when needed
- Supervise installation and testing of Auto Electrical equipment and materials from contract manuals and procedural documents to required standards of quality and time
- Ensure Field Engineers complete all works to a high standard (first time fixes)
Train & Manage:
- On site supervision of Field Engineers
- Mentor colleagues and sub-contractor staff to achieve required quality standards
- Ensure work is completed in-line with business processes
- Deliver training to Field Engineers, sub-contractor staff and customers when or if required
- Brief any local Health & Safety updates as well as Toolbox Talks
- Manage and conduct site inspections, Vehicle Audits and Quality Audits when required
- Complete Quality Control checks on internal and external teams, recording results accurately using the correct procedures.
Tooling Control:
- On site management of materials, tooling and the site
- Have an accurate understanding of testing equipment required for each team member
- Tool Audits to be conducted as and when needed
- Maintain compliance with the company auditing processes and procedures in accordance with BSI requirements
Vehicle Control:
- Upkeep, care and maintenance of company vehicle and be fully compliant with all relevant driver policies
- Update, maintain and manage vehicle information
- Rollout new ways of working when implemented
Auto Electrical Field Supervisor - Key requirements:
- Vehicle Installation / Auto Electrical Installation code of practice: FCS1362:2022/1362
- Experience of installing / maintaining equipment such as GPS Units, Satellite Navigation Systems (Sat Nav), Mobile Data Terminals (MDT), Vehicle Trackers, Immobilisers, Reversing Cameras, CCTV, Radio Communications equipment (in-vehicle), 2-way Radio Comms equipment, Infotainment systems, Central Locking Systems, Emergency Services Sirens, Emergency Service Lights, Telematics systems (and so on )
- Proven experience of the installation / maintenance of Vehicle Communication / Auto electrical equipment
- DC Power / Low Voltage / High Voltage supplies
- Optical Fibre knowledge
- Experience of leading teams in single or multi-site Telecoms / Vehicle installation / Auto-electrical installation activities
- Has provided regular cover for Field Manager or similar Field Management position in the last 12-18 months
- FITAS accredited (or knowledge of FITAS)
