Reports To: Finance Manager / Head of Finance
Job Purpose: The Systems Accountant will be responsible for supporting the implementation, maintenance, and optimisation of Technology One (TechOne) financial systems within the Local Authority. The role involves ensuring the integrity of financial data, enhancing system functionalities, and providing user training and support. This position will bridge the gap between finance and IT, ensuring that the financial systems meet the needs of the finance department and align with the organisation's goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Systems Implementation and Maintenance:
- Assist in the implementation of TechOne financial modules.
- Ensure ongoing maintenance and updates of the TechOne system.
- Collaborate with IT to troubleshoot and resolve system issues.
Financial Data Management:
- Ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial data within TechOne.
- Develop and maintain financial reports and dashboards.
- Perform regular data audits and validations.
Process Improvement:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance system efficiency and effectiveness.
- Work with stakeholders to streamline financial work flows and automate processes where possible.
- Keep up-to-date with new features and functionalities in TechOne and assess their applicability.
User Support and Training:
- Provide user support and training for finance staff and other system users.
- Develop user manuals, training materials, and conduct training sessions.
- Act as the primary point of contact for TechOne-related queries.
System Configuration and Customization:
- Configure and customize TechOne modules to meet the Local Authority's specific needs.
- Ensure system configurations comply with financial regulations and internal policies.
- Liaise with TechOne support for advanced customisation requirements.
Collaboration and Communication:
- Work closely with finance, IT, and other departments to understand their needs and provide appropriate system solutions.
- Communicate system changes and updates effectively to all stakeholders.
- Participate in cross-functional projects and initiatives as required.
Compliance and Security:
- Ensure financial systems comply with relevant legislation and internal policies.
- Maintain system security and manage user access controls.
- Participate in internal and external audits related to financial systems.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Professional Qualification: ACA, ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent.
- Experience:
- Proven experience as a systems accountant or similar role.
- Experience with Technology One (TechOne) or similar financial systems.
- Strong knowledge of financial processes and accounting principles.
- Skills:
- Proficient in financial data analysis and reporting.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong IT skills, including familiarity with databases and system administration.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously.
