The Opportunity
Due to project trajectories, our client is currently recruiting an experienced Senior Head of Scheduling Manager who will have the responsibility for delivering a Scheduling function on a £20Bn plus nuclear new build project.

The work of this role will be challenging and varied in nature with multiple stakeholder responsibilities including working under a national spotlight.

As a Scheduling Manager, your role will be initially based in London for the first 2 to 3 years, with time spent at the Sizewell C site In Suffolk. Your role may progress to being part or fully based at Sizewell C as construction activities begin to ramp up.

Your duties and responsibilities will be

  • Staff selection and capability development, to support service provision requirements, in line with staff development plans.
  • Staff capacity identification, to meet the demands of the SZC project and the specific needs of the three SZC programmes.
  • Succession planning to ensure continuity of the Scheduling service.
  • Ensuring all Scheduling function members have clear job descriptions, accountabilities, and expectations and current.
  • staff development plans.

Reporting & Governance:

  • Ownership of project reporting templates.
  • Timely provision of project controls data within scheduled and ad-hoc reports.
  • Attendance at scheduled meetings in line with the SZC reporting and communications requirements.

Schedule:

  • Establishment of an Integrated Project Baseline
  • Creation and update of full-lifecycle cost and resource loaded schedules which capture all scope to be executed by the three programmes, including 3rd party scope (Alliances, RD, Equipment providers etc.)
  • Update of full-lifecycle schedules at varying detail levels, to support: Execution of work, reporting and forecasting, scenario planning, risk management; strategic planning; and stakeholder management.
  • Routine progress updates to support delivery and reporting.
  • Conducting interactive planning sessions with internal and external stakeholders to capture and reflect all interfaces.
  • Support to change process.

Baseline Management:

  • Configuration control of SZC Baseline.
  • Oversight of cost / time change impacts SZC Baseline.

You will have the following Qualifications and experience

  • Detailed understanding of Scheduling methodologies and techniques.
  • Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques in a UK context.
  • Ability to produce accurate, complete, and fully logic-linked construction plans.
  • Good working knowledge of P6.
  • Understanding of other Disciplines of Project Controls (particularly Estimating, Cost and Risk and Change) including
  • Management techniques and associated software.
  • Deep understanding of earned value analysis.
  • Understanding of various contract types, in particular the NEC suite and FIDIC.
  • Working knowledge of schedule risk analysis techniques.
  • High level of analytical and numerical skills.
  • Management and Leadership experience of people on major projects.
