About this client/child: Greg, 6, lives in Chelsea, London, with his mum, dad, and older sister, Jenny, 10. He is an energetic and active child who loves bouncing on his trampoline, swimming, and spending time outdoors. At home he enjoys books, music, and films. Jenny is creative and enjoys arts and crafts, drawing, and painting. Greg is autistic and non-verbal. At times, he may display challenging behaviours when feeling dysregulated. He attends a specialist SEN school that follows ABA principles and receives both speech and language therapy (SALT) and occupational therapy (OT) as part of his education. To support his communication, Greg uses an AAC device (with Proloquo Software) on his iPad. He will need assistance to use it effectively to express his wants and needs. His school is happy to provide training so that candidates feel confident modelling and supporting his communication development.

Overview of role: This role is a fantastic opportunity for a female candidate with experience working with nonverbal children on the autistic spectrum to bring her skills and expertise to support Greg in his ongoing development. Greg thrives on routine, especially during term time, and the family is keen to maintain this structure. A typical day begins at the family home, where you ll prepare a simple evening meal and complete light domestic tasks related to the children. This is a collaborative role, as Greg s mum is also at home. You ll then drive the family car to pick Greg up from school and bring him home. The rest of the shift focuses on supporting his evening routine, including toileting, dinner, and getting bathed and ready for bed. The family values a calm environment for Greg to decompress after his busy school day. This might involve reading his favourite books, modelling communication on his AAC device, or enjoying a bounce on his indoor trampoline. During Jenny s longer school holidays, when she is home more often, the role shifts towards spending quality time with her, engaging in creative activities she enjoys, while also managing Greg s school drop-offs and pick-ups. In the school holidays the family often spend time at their family home in Kent, they would wish their SEN nanny to travel and stay with them and help the children enjoy the outdoors. The family is looking for a long-term commitment of at least two years, as consistency plays a vital role in Greg s emotional regulation and development.

Who this job would suit: We are seeking a female candidate who has a strong background in working with children on the autistic spectrum. This is a long-term position, ideal for someone who wants to become a valued member of a welcoming family.

What s great about this job: This role offers fantastic training opportunities from Greg s school, as well as long term security and fantastic rates of pay. The family place a strong emphasis on teamwork, making this a rewarding and enjoyable position.
