Interim Financial Controller - 6 months contract - 50k pa pro rata
My Client, a well established (5+ decades), growing, family owned business in Plymouth is urgently looking for a highly competent and experienced Interim Financial Controller to take ownership of the financial operations for a 6-month period.
The successful candidate will play a vital role in ensuring the accuracy and efficiency of the financial reporting and control systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Reporting: Lead the month-end close process, ensuring timely and accurate production of monthly financial statements (P&L, balance sheet, cash flow).
- Financial Analysis: Analyze financial performance, identify trends, and provide insightful reports to management.
- Accounting Operations: Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other key accounting functions.
- Compliance: Ensure compliance with all applicable accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Process Improvement: Identify opportunities to streamline and improve financial processes.
- Team Management: Manage and mentor a small finance team, providing guidance and support.
- Special Projects: Assist with ad-hoc projects as required, such as budgeting, forecasting, or system implementations.
Qualifications:
- Qualified accountant: (ACCA, CIMA, or equivalent experience)
- Proven Experience: Significant experience (5+ years) as a Financial Controller or in a similar senior finance role in a UK business.
- Technical Expertise: Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting standards, and internal control frameworks.
- Systems Proficiency: Experience with accounting software.
- Communication & Leadership: Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Self-Starter: Ability to work independently and manage priorities effectively.
This role is office based, in Plymouth, for at least 3 days a week, although my client would prefer 5 days
